The network fare is applicable to all public transport systems of Styria. If you use public transport, you need a valid ticket for the transport network.
To calculate the fare for your journey, Styria is subdivided into different transport zones. The price applicable to your journey depends on the number of tariff zones you pass through and the ticket’s period of validity.
The zones for which you have paid are printed on the ticket. You can use any network line in these zones during the entire period of validity of the ticket.
Which lines belong to the network?
- All trains. Suburban trains, regional and REX trains on short-distance connections, IC, EC, RJ, EN/NJ on long-distance connections. A network ticket is valid for travelling in second-class coaches.
- Regional buses. Styrian regional bus lines are identified by a three-digit line number (e.g. 470, X30).
- Urban transport. Urban transport (city) lines in Graz, Leoben/Trofaiach, Bruck/Kapfenberg, Aichfeld have single digit or two-digit line numbers (e.g. 1, 31, 34E, 76U, N1). The Schlossberg funicular in Graz is also included.
- Night buses. The Nightline in Graz (standard network fare) and the Saturday Nightline in the Liezen district (special network fare).
But:
You cannot use the ÖBB-IC bus or other long-distance buses,
for example Flixbus etc., with a Styrian network ticket.
What are the advantages of network tickets?
- Network tickets are valid for all means of transport in the purchased zones until the end of ticket’s period of validity.
- If you change to a bus/train of another public transport company/line you do not need to buy another ticket.
- Network tickets can be passed on to another person – with the exception of six-month/twelve-month passes with photograph.
- Network tickets can be bought for any date.
